Terminalia kumpaja …

Terminalaia kumpajaThis variation of the Pindan Walnut has been removed from Terminalia cunninghamii, and is now called T.kumpaja, after an indigenous name for this species. While I have issues with a number of different variations near Broome, further work is being done to separate these.

This one is mainly found in the region between Port Smith and Sandfire, behind the 80 mile beach. It is different from the T.cunninghamii north of Broome due to it’s smaller fruits and more spreading habit.
